Il Palagio in Colognole

Our Tuscany villa

Villa Il Palagio in Colognole

Located halfway between Florence and Mugello, the property extends over the hills of Chianti Rufina at an altitude of about 400 metres, close to the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, benefiting from a cool and breezy climate, particularly enjoyable during summer.

Dating back to the 17th century and built on a square plan around a medieval tower, the property is still the residence of the Spalletti Trivelli – Coda Nunziante family. Surrounded by a large park with pines, holm oaks and cypresses, in a context of total privacy, the Villa expands over two levels; from the entrance door, passing through a vast hallway, you enter the courtyard, the heart of the house, onto which the family chapel opens. On the ground floor there is the kitchen, an office and numerous other spaces dedicated to services and technical rooms; a wide double-height staircase leads to the first floor where there is an entrance hall, two large lounges, two sitting rooms, a dining room, a bar area, six large bedrooms with their bathrooms, most of them en suite.

On the basement floor the Spalletti family’s historic wine cellar is located, with its fascinating wooden barrels in which the great Chianti Rufina wines, produced on the estate, mature before being refined in bottles. Here we also keep a private collection of the estate’s historic vintages, some of which date back almost a century.

Inside the garden, on a large lawn, is the swimming pool with its changing rooms and adjoining gazebo as well as a tennis court and a five-a-side football pitch on synthetic grass.

In the area, many sports and cultural activities can be organised, such as trekking, horse riding or mountain biking, along with trails in the woods, fishing in the lakes of the Apennines, eno-gastronomic itineraries in typical Tuscan restaurants (where you can taste traditional dishes, including Florentine steak, in combination with Chianti Rufina wines) or visit the wine cellars of the producers in the Chianti Rufina area and neighbouring denominations. The proximity of Colognole to the numerous cities of art in the area (Florence can be easily reached by train in 30 minutes), make this place immersed in nature a true cradle of culture, beauty and serenity.
