Montesenario: the Holy Mountain of Florence

Hidden among the fascinating landscapes of the Tuscan countryside, the Sanctuary of Montesenario is a hidden gem, located just a few kilometres from Florence. It is very dear to its inhabitants, because it was here that seven noble Florentines found themselves, fleeing from the city during the troubled years of the republic, at the beginning of the 13th century, and founded a religious order called the Servants of Mary beginning an evangelisation and apostolate that strongly influenced the public and social life of the city.

Architectural splendour and natural and spiritual peace

The architectural beauty of the Sanctuary is a testimony to the craftsmanship of the past. The complex presents a fusion of architectural styles, with influences ranging from Gothic to Renaissance.

The peaceful atmosphere and unspoilt natural environment make it an ideal destination for nature lovers and hikers.

Visitors can participate in daily prayers and rituals together with the Servite friars, who are still present in the Sanctuary, attend Mass or simply find a quiet corner to connect with their inner selves.
